Walking with God is more than an expression, more than an idea but it’s an experience with unique encounters. To enter into that realm of experience demands personal awareness of God’s glory. Glory conveys a lot of meanings depending on the application. The New Illustrated Webster’s dictionary gives these meanings (a) distinguished honor or praise, exalted reputation (b) something which occasions praise or renown, an object of praise (c) adoration, worshipful praise: give glory to God, (d) splendor, magnificence (e) the bliss of heaven (f) a state of exaltation or extreme well-being (g) radiance, brilliancy, using some of the above meanings, will allow us to uncover how to order our steps with his presence upon us.
There are about three hundred and ninety-eight direct mention of the word glory in the Bible relating to different applications and purpose. The first mention of glory in the scripture refers to Jacob’s possessions or wealth in Genesis 31:1. Proper understanding of the meaning and benefits of the glory of God will ignite within us the desire to walk and abide in his glory. The Bible making reference to Moses records this statement, “And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory,” Moses has learnt that whenever the radiance of God’s presence went with them, they were victorious and saved in their wilderness experiences. He refused to make any move without the guarantee that God’s splendor will go with them. I’ve developed the same attitude towards God’s glory.
What constitutes his glory?
• The nature and acts of God in self manifestation
• The character and ways of God as exhibited through Christ in the life of believers
• The state of blessedness into which the believers are to enter hereafter through being brought into the likeness of Christ
• Brightness or splendor emanating from God – the Shekinah glory in the pillar of cloud and in the holy of holies
It depicts blessedness, goodness and God’s reputation as endowed upon those who walk and abide in this realm of the supernatural.
What it takes to attain this glorious walk
1. Living in a state of absolute oneness
We must be fully in tune with God’s divine order and vision. Endeavor to love as God loves. Loving from the soul which reflects the true nature of God – not partial, self rewarding nor self-seeking
2. Living above strive or vain glory
God’s glory is removed from us, where strive and self reign supreme. It’s unity that attracts God’s commanded blessing upon us bringing the honor that only he alone can give.
3. Maintaining an atmosphere of praise and worship
We walk in God’s glory when we empty ourselves unto him in a heart of true worship in spirit and in truth. His magnificence power is poured upon us, burdens are lifted, needs are met and his peace comes upon us as the morning dew.
4. Cultivate the mind of Christ in our daily walk
To attract the glory of God, our mind and heart must be focused on him to carry out his will. Power and position become a privilege and a channel of stewardship. It’s important to recognize that whatever capacity God chooses to use us in, we’re mere mortals, daily in need of God’s help. This type of attitude attracts his glory upon us.
5. Maintain a life of prayer, fasting and meditation
If you really desire to walk in God’s glory, these three practices must be constant activities in your life. Your life will light up as fire, because of the time spent in his presence. In fact the Bible says that the glory of God shall be your reward, also that your light and health will spring forth in a haste.
This is my constant yearning, to have the reputation of God placed upon my life. As we say in another expression God’s anointing resting upon our lives for his service. Choose to walk by faith in God’s glory and you’ll never want to do it any other way.
